I had visited with Cheryl Wyka Fitzgerald last Memorial Day in 2020. On my way back from decorating my family plots at South Burial Ground, I drove by her nearby home. By chance she was outside doing yard work. Cheryl was so happy to see one of her Warren High School 1963 classmates. I last spoke with her at our 50th Reunion in 2013 and was her bright and sunny self. I sat in my car as Cheryl recounted that she was in remission at the time. She was looking forward to attending our next reunion and meeting all her friends. Cheryl was a fighter and took experimental therapies to beat the cancer. She said enough was enough and was in control of her life. What a courageous woman, and she lived every day as it came on her terms. God Bless Cheryl Wyka Fitzgerald and her husband Timothy Fitzgerald and her sister and fine family. Her many friends are blessed to have known her and will miss her immensely.

Tim, My deepest sympathy to you on the passing of Cheryl. I knew her my entire career at the VA. She loved her patients and they loved her back. She is now in the VA clinic in the sky taking care of them with open arms. May she rest in peace with the Lord.
