Obituary For Frederick Ellsworth Wilkinson

Frederick Ellsworth Wilkinson Jr., of Bristol, died peacefully and surrounded by family and friends Thursday, May 13, 2021, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI.

Although born in San Diego, CA to the late Frederick and Mary (Baker) Wilkinson he was a life long resident of Bristol.

Mr. Wilkinson was a proud and highly decorated Veteran of the US Army who served his country with honor and distinction. The army allowed him to experience other countries and cultures which, in turn, brought him to Germany. It was his favorite station and country outside of the USA. Fred enjoyed going to the Elks Club and being surrounded by fellow Veterans. He was an active member of the Bristol VFW and the German American Clubs as well.

His memory will live on in his son, Sgt. Major Patrick A. Wilkinson USMC and his wife Jennifer of Oceanside, CA, his daughter, Kristine S. McPherson of Swansea, MA, his five grandchildren, Allie, Kylie, Meg, Hunter, and Ryan and many, many friends.

A chapel service will be held Monday, May 24, 2021, at 11:30AM, at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021, from 5-7PM in the Smith Funeral Home, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI.

Arrangements are by Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI.

    To the entire Wilkinson family, please accept my sincere condolences. My friend Fred was a Command Sargent Major in the US Army and was very proud of his service to his country. Fred, I along with your friends, will miss you and will think of you each day at the Tolling of Eleven, the Golden Hour of Recollection. You will be truly missed by all of us. I feel that I am truly a better person today because of meeting you and having your friendship. You have left me with so many wonderful memories and I will cherish them forever. They say friends are a gift from God. They bring us joy and happiness and help us in times of need. Fred, that is why I can truly say how glad I am I had you as my friend!     So sorry for Wilkinson Family.Fred was a great guy.I inspected his vehicles yearly.He would always donate to Haiti School we run.His Dad was my Dad s friend.Great loss for all.
