Obituary For Grace Irving Nicely

Grace I. Nicely (Brightman) 81 of Swansea, MA, formerly from New Bedford, MA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.

Grace was the daughter of the late William C. Brightman an Ethel Brightman.

She was raised by her Grandmother Grace I Brightman, born and raised in New Bedford.

She is survived by her husband Bruce S. Nicely Sr whom she was married to for 61 years. Her 3 children, Bruce S. Nicely Jr and his wife Shelley, of New Bedford, MA, Beatrice Rego of Fall River, MA, and Karen Donovan of Swansea, MA. Grace had 7 grandchildren, Carolina Costa-Viveiros and her husband Dave, Richard Dimond III, Bruce Nicely III, Derek Conway, Amanda Nicely, Robert Dimond and his wife Kayla, and Alex Cordero, 6 Great grandchildren, Jeanna, Logan, Kaden, Jameson, Brianna ,and Aubrey. She was predeceased by her 2 brothers Ronald and William Brightman and her sister Joan Fluegel.

Grace loved roller skating in her younger days at Lincoln Park where she met her husband Bruce. Grace was a stay at home mother who enjoyed teaching her children the proper values of life. Grace enjoyed spending time with her family and working outside on her flower garden. Grace was a cat lover who took care of several cats over the years taking several into her home. She was also active on the CB Radio for many years and was known as Goosey Gander.

The family would like to thank Community Nursing (Hospice Team ) of Fairhaven, MA, for an outstanding job done with Grace and for their compassion and comfort during this difficult time. To her nurses Holly and Wendy, and her aide Cheryl whom she adored, thank you from the bottom of our heavy hearts for all you do.

    Sorry to hear about Mrs. Nicely passing, a sweet lady who will be greatly missed. May her loved ones find comfort in the memories of her. In God's loving care may she always be. John 5:28,29; Psalm 37:29.
