Harry Andersen, 92, of Warren passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 28, 2022. A son of the late Anders and Allie (Henriksen) Andersen and the loving husband of Edith (Whitehead) Andersen for 69 years. Harry, or "Grumps", as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, grew up in Providence and graduated from Hope High School where he played ice hockey. He continued his net minding duties well into his 50's. A US Navy veteran, he served on an ice breaker during the Korean War and finished his service at Naval Station Newport RI. He trained as a Journeyman Carpenter under his father's tutelage and built the home in Warren where he and Eadie (Grams) raised their family. He was the Vice President at Bruce Diamond Corporation in Attleboro, MA, captained an off shore fishing vessel then launched his own diamond tool manufacturing company, Coneset Corporation in East Providence. Harry loved the ocean and was an avid sailor winning innumerable regattas in the Snipe, International 110 and Herresoff S Classes. He owned his own Lobster boat, aptly named the Edith W after his wife. He remained very active in his retirement and enjoyed making staves for quahog rakes, hand carving small wooden utensils and doing specialty splicing for a local rope company. Harry was a longtime member of the Sons of Norway - Dovre Lodge and a charter member and first Deputy Chief of the Touisset Fire Company Engine #6. Most recently, from the comfort of their favorite chairs, Grams and Grumps didn't miss a thing in their panoramic Coles River view. In addition to his loving wife, Edith, Harry is survived by his children, Kristen A. Smith (Howell) of Seekonk, Karen A. Andersen (John Edge) of Bristol, Kurt W. Andersen (Patti) of Bristol, and Kim E. Andersen (William Beebe) of Warren; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late David V. Andersen and Helge "Andy" V. Andersen. Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI where the family will receive relatives and guests for visitation on Monday, March 7, 2022 from 4-7PM.
