Obituary For Herbert Earl Anderson

Herbert "Andy" E. Anderson, 91, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023. A lifelong resident of Rumford, RI, he was a son of the late Arthur and Hope (Bredersen) Anderson. Andy loved anything with an engine and was an avid powerboat racer, car enthusiast and NASCAR fan. He owned and operated Andy's Outboard Service which fit hand in hand with his love of racing. Going to work is what he loved more than life, itself and coffee at Andy's was a thing. Andy also enjoyed building and modifying cars in his younger years. He and his friends would often be found pulling their cars apart and exchanging parts. Most of all, Andy loved spending time with his loving family. Andy is survived by his daughters, Julie Anderson of FL and Holly Amaral and her husband Tony of Bristol, RI; a son, Chris Anderson of HI; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Herbert Anderson Jr. and the brother of the late Ralph Anderson. Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI. Sympathies to Julie, Holly and Chris, as well as rest of family members over the loss of dear Uncle Herb. His sense of humor and wit was unique - he once told me "don't believe everything I tell you", and was a wonderful storyteller. You will be missed!!

He was a great guy and was always good to me. I hung around the shop when I was younger and always stopped in when I could before he closed up the shop. My condolences Chris, Holly and Julie
