Joseph Coelho, 88, of Bristol, RI, passed away, Friday, May 13, 2022, at Dawn Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Bristol, RI.

He was the husband of the late Henriqueta (Vieira) Coelho.

Born in Portugal, he was the son of the late Joao and Maria E. (Mendonca) Coelho.

Mr. Coelho had worked as a laborer for Millard Wire in Providence, for 37 years, retiring in 1998. He was a Communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Warren. Joseph was a professional roller hockey player for many years, having traveled around the world to play.

He is survived by a son, Joseph N. Coelho of Portsmouth, RI, a daughter, Constance Karnehm of Bristol, RI, and one grandson, Andrew Viveiros and his wife Lucilia, and one great grandson, Santiago Viveiros. He was also the brother of the late, Maria Isabel Paquim.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022, from 4-7PM in Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren, RI.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 8AM from Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Avenue, Warren, RI.

Burial will follow in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Vernon St., Warren.
