Obituary For Larry R. Mangone Jr.

Lawrence R. Mangone Jr. of Warren, RI passed away on April 23, 2023 at the age of 60. After a long battle with pancreatic cancer, he passed with his loving family and golden retriever by his side. He was the Pastor of Radiant Christian Church in Warren, RI.

He is survived by his wife Karen, a school teacher, his two daughters, Rachel and Sarah, and his two granddaughters Grace and Jude. He was the son of Lawrence Mangone, Sr. and the late Beverly Mangone, and brother to Debbie Silva.

Larry, born on March 2, 1963, grew up in Stoughton, MA before he met his wife of 39 years. He and Karen were married at Brockton Assembly of God in 1984. He studied theology at Berean University and became credentialed with the Assemblies of God, then began his first pastorate in Milo, Maine at 24 years old. He also pastored a church in Littleton, MA for a few years before he and his family began their missionary work in Bangladesh. This work consisted of years of ministering to bible school students and Bengali pastors, as well as countless passion projects helping those in need, such as the Home of Hope Orphanage, various villages, and impoverished people all over the country.

After returning to the United States, Larry pastored churches in New Jersey before settling at his final pastorate in Rhode Island. This entire time, he continued to advocate strongly for missionary work overseas, even embarking on missions trips back to Bangladesh and then to Honduras.

Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI where the family will receive relatives and guests for visitation on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 4-7PM. A funeral will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 10AM at Radiant Christian Church, 895 Main Street, Warren, RI, followed immediately by internment at North Burial Grounds, Bristol, RI.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Radiant Christian Church (memo: Missions).

My dear friend, I am just finding this out almost two months later. You and I began with you beating me up, which strangely turned into the event that made us fast friends. You introduced me to the Beatles, and convinced me to go to Beatlemania with you at the Shubert in Boston. A night that also got me grounded from going to concerts until I was 18. We lost touch over the years until Facebook brought us back together. When we talked over the years the friendship stayed strong. I wish you had told me what was happening, so I could've been there for you. Until we meet again my friend. Peace and Love to you,

You are all in our thoughts and prayers. We are late to hear the news, and very sorry to hear of your loss. Pastor Larry was very hospitable and welcoming to the children and staff during last year's summer camp, always sharing his stories and experiences with us. He will be very much missed. We will be praying for you all, especially Larry Sr. Sincerely, Pavithra & Amanda Andrews

Karen, while you don't know me, I had the pleasure of working with Larry at Road Runners. He was a remarkable man, drove like a maniac! But so very proud of you and the children and grandchildren. He was caring, compassionate and fun. It was truly an honor for me to have known him. God bless, Julie Karas

Pastor Larry was a leader. I had to move from my apartment. I couldn't afford professional movers. Without telling me that he was going to do this, he talked about it at our service and asked if folks could volunteer to help me move. Well, there was a good turnout to help me. All because of our leader, Pastor Larry. Love as a sister in Christ. Diane

My most sincerest sympathies to Pastor Larrys wife, daughters and family. Many years ago Pastor Larry was my minister at Radiant Christian Church. My children and I have the foundest memories of his sermons and especially his kind heart. May the love of Jesus give his family the strength they need during this most difficult time and may all the wonderful memories you shared as a family live on forever. God bless you all..

Heaven is a brighter place with Pastor Larry there! His faithful and steadfast service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is an inspiration to us all! Pastor Larry showed us how to live a fully surrendered life dedicated to loving, honoring and serving Jesus Christ and God's People! He has blessed many lives for God's glory! And especially mine! He is now filled with unsurpassed joy and perfect bliss as He walks hand-in-hand with our Blessed Savior on streets of gold in the Paradise of Heaven! For the Christian it is never goodbye but rather until we meet again! I look forward to giving my dear Brother Larry a huge bearhug when we meet one day in Heaven! Thank you for being a special person to me and so many others! With love and prayers! Pastor Phil Popovici <

Dear family of Pastor Larry, we are so sorry for your loss. Pastor Larry will be remembered by us as as a very kind and faithful servant of the Lord . He showed such courage and care for his family and friends. We were so thankful to watch on line his recent sermon at Radiant Life. We were so blessed by his life. We met him when he and Karen were called to Missions in Bangladesh. He has always been faithful to support missionaries for which our daughter has received support from Pastor Larry and Radiant Life Church. We are forever grateful. We are praying for all of you during this earthly farewell for your broken hearts to be comforted.. We know that Pastor Larry is rejoicing today and free from pain. We will experience that glad reunion day that is in God's plan. Sending love, Larry, & Barbara, & Carrie Robinson, Jamie & Jeremy Fulton & family

Although I've only known pastor for a year and a half, his meaningful sermons and his kindness will be with me forever. He's with Jesus and I'm sure very happy, it's those he left behind that will feel sorrow. So sorry for your loss.

I am Nathaniel Girard, the son of Liza Girard. I would just like to share a memory with all of you. I remember some years ago having a blast on the swings outside of the church, and Pastor came out and asked if I wanted to see the game room. This was the first time I had ever seen that room, and Pastor being there with me made it all the more special. Thank you for reading everyone, and I hope everyone can find some comfort during this time. God is always with us, through thick and thin, and he never gives up hope on us all. Bye now — Nathaniel Girard
