Obituary For Maria C. Catarino

Maria Celeste (Gomes) Catarino,76, of Warren, died Sunday, December 6, 2020 in her home after a brief and aggressive illness. She was the loving wife of Manuel E. Catarino and they were married for over 51 years. They were a true example of love and commitment.

Maria was born in Serra dEL- Rei, Portugal, a daughter of the late Heliodoro and Maria (Petronilia) Gomes.

When Maria came to America, she worked at Premium Thread for many years. She later became a Certified Nursing Assistant, for over 22 years, at the Grace Barker Health Center in Warren.

She enjoyed caring for the patients, and co-workers and patients alike could hear her singing as she worked, giving hope to those around her.

Maria was a born-again Christian, and shared her faith with many, leading many people to Christ. She was an avid sponsor of Son Life Ministries and supported many other faith-based organizations who work to share the Gospel and meet the needs of the broken and hurting.

Maria was an accomplished seamstress, making beautiful clothing for her children, grandchildren, and friends; she enjoyed making her home beautiful and inviting.

She loved caring for her family and will always be remembered for her singing around the house, praising God.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Paula Davis, Michelle De Jesus, Wendy Muenchow, and Christopher Catarino. She was the sister of Abilio & Manuel Gomes, and Celcia Esteves.

Maria was the grandmother of Ashley & Daniel Davis, Hannah & Gabriel de Jesus, Cheyenne, Kassie, & Ethan Muenchow. She was the mother-in-law of Chad Davis, Eliezer De Jesus, and Kent Muenchow; she loved her sons-in-law as if they were her own children, and was an inspiration and will be greatly missed.

She was also survived by many nieces and nephews, whom she loved and cared for very much.

Maria was the sister of the late Jose Lima Gomes, Estella Oliver, and Alice Taylor.
