Obituary For Michael James Sylvia

Michael J. Sylvia, 63, of Warren, RI, passed away, Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of James C. Sylvia of Warren, RI (currently residing in Fall River, MA), and the late Dorothea (Sousa) Sylvia. Mike, as known to his friends, had worked as a machine operator at RI Lace and American Cord and Webbing for over 25 years, retiring in 2021. He was a member of the Warren Fire Department Engine 5 for 30 plus years. Besides his father, he is survived by a son, Matthew R. Sylvia of Warren, RI, a brother, David A. Sylvia and his wife Darlene of Warren, RI, and a sister, Mary Ann Moniz and her husband Jay of Warren, RI. He was also the brother of the late James A. "Jimmy" Sylvia. Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, from 4-7PM in Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren. Funeral services and burial will be private.     i work with mike at river point lace for 23 years he was a good worker and a good friend even when he left the mill we talk at lest once a month talking about the good old days when we worked a 18 or 20 hour shift i will miss you my friend say hi to Debbie for me

    I knew Mike from the FD and from living in the same building, he always helped out looking after my puppy-Karma, when I had to go out of town. Karma and I will miss him.

    So very sad to hear of his passing.. I work at Perellas in Warren and he was a frequent visitor ordering his favorite Stan Ross... Prayers to all the family and friends🙏🙏❤️
