Obituary For Alan B. Tavares Sr.
Alan B. Tavares Sr., 71, of Bristol, RI, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. A son of the late Albert C. and Lucille (Leite) Tavares and the beloved husband of Luisa (Pacheco) Tavares, Alan was a lifelong resident of Bristol.
Alan served his country in the United States Marine Corp and was very proud to serve like his father did in WWII. Later, he went on to work for Marshall and Williams Plastics as a Lab Technician for many years and then worked as a Bus Driver until his retirement. Alan was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing in his leisure time. He also enjoyed trips to Cape Cod and his daily drives through Colt State Park to see the deer. Alan had a great passion for music and was a member of the “Shades of Blue Band” in his younger years. The passion never left him and he enjoyed singing Karaoke into his more recent years. He loved football and liked to watch the Patriots. Alan loved sweets and absolutely needed his three daily cups of coffee. Alan was a fun-loving guy with a huge personality and a love of jokes and humor. You could hear him coming from a mile away with a new joke ready to go. Most of all, Alan enjoyed spending time with his family. He absolutely adored his grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife, Luisa, Alan is survived by his sons, Alan Tavares Jr. and his wife Bethany of Swansea, MA. Keith Tavares of Bristol, RI; his daughter, Stacy Tavares and her wife Angela of Lisbon Falls, ME; his brother, Robert Tavares of Fall River, MA; his sisters, Deborah Barboza of Somerset, MA and Joyce Moniz of Fall River, MA; and his five grandchildren, Talan, Skylin, Keaton, Logan and Lexi.
Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI 02885 where the family will receive relatives and guests for Visitation on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 5-8PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 9AM followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St. Bristol, RI 02809. Burial will be at North Burial Ground, 1081 Hope St. Bristol, RI 02809.
