Obituary For Albert Amaral
Albert A. Amaral of Market Street, Warren died peacefully at home on Saturday, June 14th after a year of declining health. The tenth of twelve children, he was born in Fall River to Francisco and Altina Amaral. In 1929, the family moved to Warren, where he attended Warren public schools and graduated from Warren High School in 1943. He entered the Army in December 1944, participated in the Philippine Liberation Campaign and served with the occupation troops in Japan before being discharged in January 1947. Upon returning home to Warren, he worked for the City Hall Hardware Company in Providence until 1950. He attended Rhode Island Radio School in Providence from 1950-1952. After graduation, he worked for the Bristol Radio Company full time while he began his own business part time. In 1955 he went full time as Amaral Radio & Television Company and married Theresa Perry on February 19th that same year. He worked thirty-two years retiring in 1997. His favorite hobby was planting his large vegetable garden. Over the decades, he generously gave away most of his vegetables to family, friends and customers. He always entertained his family with humorous anecdotes about the events in his life. Finally in 2002, he sat down and wrote his memoirs for the benefit of his children, grandchildren and other family members, in three short books- When I Was Young, Tales of a T.V. Repairman, and Your in the Army Now: Memories of a World War II Soldier. Besides his wife of 53 years, Therese Perry Amaral of Warren, daughter June ODonal, son-in-law Wayne, grandson Timothy and granddaughter Perry ODonal of Denmark, Maine; daughter Shirley Perrine, son-in-law John, grandson John and granddaughter Joanna Perrine of Poca, West Virginia. He also leaves two sisters, Bella Cabral of Bristol and Lorraine Cabral of Warren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, where family will receive friends, Thursday, June 19th from 11am to 12 pm. Funeral service will follow at 12pm.
