Obituary For Alice D. Unsworth
Alice D. (Richard) Unsworth, 91, a former Warren resident, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015 at the Village of Waterman Lake, Greenville. She was the wife William H. Unsworth for over 59 years at his passing on November 15, 2003.
Born in Warwick, a daughter of the late Aime E. and Blanche (Gilman) Richard, she lived in Warren for over 24 years, previously living in Metarie, LA, and East Providence.
Mrs. Unsworth was a graduate of the Samuel Gorton High School class of 1942, and Elmwood Junior College in 1944. She worked as a Secretary at Walsh Kaiser Company and was an executive secretary at Monroe Calculating Machine Company. She left the work force to raise her family in 1953 and returned to work in 1972 where she worked as an executive secretary for Leonard C. Mandell Associates, Miles Harrison Inc., and Lebeau, Light and Santini Inc., until her retirement in 1978. Mrs. Unsworth was a communicant of St. Mary of the Bay Church, where she was a former Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister.
She leaves two sons, W. Kevin Unsworth and his wife Celeste of Enfield, CT, and Owen J. Unsworth and his wife Penny of Slidell, LA., a daughter Lisa A. Unsworth of Seekonk MA., and a sister Blanche Murray of Jamestown, RI. She was the grandmother of Joseph, Nicholas, Molly, and Tyler. Joseph and his wife, Tanya of Broad Brook, CT gave her two great grandchildren, William and Addison. She was the sister of the late Paul Richard, Roma Bourassa, Sr. Lorraine Richard R.J.M., and also the late Yvette A. Biehusen.
Her funeral will be held Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at 9:00am, from the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St. Warren, burial will follow in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery Cremains Garden. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Monday from 9:00-10:30am. Gifts in her memory can be sent to St. Mary of the Bay Food Pantry, St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St. Warren RI 02885
