Obituary For Ana Maria Costa

Ana Maria (Tavares) Costa passed away peacefully Sunday, March 15 at Miriam Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Furnas, São Miguel, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Luis T. and Maria José Pimentel.

Ana and her immediate family immigrated to the United States in 1977. She worked at American Tourister in Warren, RI between the 1980’s and early 90’s. Starting in the mid-90’s, she worked at St. George’s School in Middletown, RI as a housekeeper until her retirement. Before immigrating, she worked as a tailor and seamstress.

Ana was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Warren, RI for several decades and was a dedicated supporter of the church’s annual Holy Ghost festivities.

Ana loved to see everyone happy. Aside from her affable nature, her best way was through her cooking and baking skills. No matter what she prepared, whatever you had was sure to thoroughly satisfy. Her generosity and loving nature to her family, friends, strangers and other causes will be missed.

She is survived by her husband Antonio M. Costa of Warren,RI, who were married for 49 years. In addition, she is survived by her loving family: daughter Lubelia (Costa) Hill and husband Alfred Hill Jr. of Warren, RI; son Eric Costa and wife Jennifer Costa of Rehoboth, MA; son Jason Costa and wife Jenna Costa of Warren, RI; brother Luis Tavares and wife Mercedes Brizuela of Rehoboth, MA ; grandchildren Stella Hill, Cullen Hill, Violette Hill, Charlotte Costa, Beckett Hill, Elizabeth Costa, Willow Hill, Madilynn Costa, and Jameson Costa; she also had many cousins, godchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that she loved and loved her, all ranging from the United States, Portugal and Canada.

In addition to her parents, Ana was predeceased by her grandson Griffin Hill.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI where family will receive friends Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Her funeral will start from Smith Funeral & Memorial Services on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Avenue, Warren, RI at 10:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Vernon Street, Warren.
