Obituary For Anna Mattes

Anna M. (Vitullo) Mattes, 91, a lifelong resident of Warren, RI, died, Saturday, January 9, 2021, at St. Elizabeths Manor, Bristol.

She was the wife of 46 years to the late John Mattes.

Born in Warren, RI, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Josephine (Jannitti) Vitullo.

Mrs. Mattes was a devoted catholic and a member of St. Alexanders Church. She and her husband were very active in the St. Alexanders community, always helping where they could, such as, the Holy Name Society and the annual Italian Festival.

After graduating high school Anna worked for SE Rains, Bristol Manufacturing and retired from Raytheon as a computer librarian after 30 years. After retiring, Anna and John spent their winters in Florida where they had many friends and were active in planning events for their community, such as community barbecues, casino trips and dinner shows.

Her family meant the world to her. She enjoyed their weekly Sunday dinners and trips to the casino with her daughter. Anna was happiest when her family was all together.

She is survived by a son, John A. Mattes and his wife Nancy of Bristol, RI, two grandchildren, John N. Mattes and his wife Lisa of Warren, RI and Nicole Bussiere and her husband Matthew of North Attleborough, MA, three great grandchildren, Logan Bussiere, Emily Bussiere, and Abraham Mattes, and a son in law James Olive of Riverside, RI.

She was the mother of the late Susan Olive.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 10 AM, in St. Alexanders Church, 221, Main Street, Warren, RI.

Calling hours are omitted.

Burial will follow in St. Alexanders Cemetery, Warren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the RI SPCA, 186 Amaral Street, Riverside, RI, 02915 or to the RI Alzheimers Association, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI, 02906.
