Obituary For Antonio Pacheco DeFrias

Antonio P. DeFrias, 75 of Bristol, died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at home.

He was the husband of the late Zenaide ( Soares) DeFrias.

Antonio was born in St. Miguel, Azores, Portugal a son of the late Manuel and Maria C. (Pacheco) Frias.

He was a fiberglasser for the Ryder Corporation, working on yachts, for many years before retiring. While in Portugal he served in the Portuguese Army for over 3 years.

He has lived in Bristol since 1992 coming from Warren and Portugal. He was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, and was always outside working in the yard. Mr. DeFrias was a wonderful man.

He is survived by his daughter Diane Sanford of Bristol, a sister Maria R. Correiro of San Leandro California. He was the grandfather of Taylor Sanford, and Thomas Sanford. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Norbert Frias, and the late Alice Frias.

His funeral will be held Thursday at 8:00 am from the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Avenue, Warren, burial will follow in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend to attend. Calling Hours are Wednesday from 5 -8pm. www.wjsmithfh.com

My mother and I would like to send our deepest condolences to his daughter, granddaughter and immediate family for the loss of their father. We are saddened to hear of his sudden passing but we also remember the moments we spent with him on New Year's Eve. He will be greatly missed. He was a very nice man. My mother is heartbroken.

Our family sends our deepest condolences to his daughter and family. I will miss seeing Tony outside, tending to his yard so intently. He was a nice man who always had a smile and hello for each of us. We missed the services because we were out of town.
