Obituary For August "Augie" Richard Alves III

August "Augie" Richard Alves III, 74, of Bristol, RI, passed away, Sunday, October 2, 2022, at home.

He was the husband of Deborah Ann (Plasse) Alves.

Born in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late August Richard and Jacqueline (Blouin) Alves.

Mr. Alves had worked as a truck driver for C. Brito Construction & Utilities for 43 years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Cup Defenders, the Portuguese Soccer Club and the Warren Portuguese American Club. He was an avid Providence College basketball fan.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael A. Alves of Pawtucket, RI, a daughter, Dawne M. Cayer and her husband Michael of Tiverton, RI, a sister, Linda Moniz and her husband Frank of Warren, RI, a granddaughter, Marisa Cayer of Tiverton, RI, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Patricia Bettencourt.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 9-10AM, in Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 10AM, from Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Suite 3004, Warwick, RI, 02886.
