Obituary For Bernard Zbyszewski

BERNARD "MURPHY" ZBYSZEWSKI, 87, of Asylum Road, Warren, died Thursday, December 8, 2004 at Rhode Island Hospital, in Providence.

He was the husband of the late Frances C. (DiSalvo) Zbyszewski. Born in Warren, a son of the late Marion and Antonia (Chicon) Zbyszewski, he was a lifelong resident of Warren.

Mr. Zbyszewski was the owner of the former Murphy's Texaco. He also had been a bartender at the Wharf Tavern and the former Pini's Island Tavern, both in Warren.

He was a former member of the town's Board of Canvassers, and a member of the Warren Fire Department's Mechanics Fire Co. No. 2.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

Mr. Zbyszewski was a communicant of St. Alexander Church.

He leaves four daughters, Maryanne Jones of East Providence, Barbara Rix of Little Compton, Karen Capuano of Bristol and Linda Seader of Warren; three sons, Richard Zbyszewski of Twisp-Carlton, Wash., Thomas Zbyszewski of Warren and Robert Gorton of Providence; two sisters, Stephanie Riccio of Bristol and Madeline Kurowski of Barrington; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was the brother of the late James, Edward and Martha Zbyszewski.

Burial will be in St. Alexander Cemetery.
