Bernice C. Pontes, 90, of Barrington, RI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. A daughter of the late John A. and Marie (Cameron) Wright and the wife of the late Gilbert J. Pontes, Bernice was a lifelong resident of Barrington.

A woman of many talents, Bernice worked as a graphoanalyst before owning and operating her own antique jewelry business. A gifted artist and painter, her creativity shined in everything she did. She also had a deep love for plants, especially her orchids, but nothing brought her more joy than time spent with her family.

Bernice is survived by her daughters, Cheryl A. Parella and her husband Fred of Barrington, RI, and Kathleen A. Munroe of Barrington, RI; her brother, Allen Wright of FL; her sister, Florence King of ME; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late James S. Wright.

Services are with Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI 02885. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 10AM at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 191 County Rd. Barrington, RI 02806. Burial will be private.

Bernice’s warmth, creativity, and love for her family will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
