Obituary For Bruce S. Nicely, Sr.

Bruce S. Nicely, Sr., 87, of Swansea passed away at his home on Sunday August 16, 2026. In death, he is reunited with his late wife Grace (Brightman) Nicely.

Born in Latrobe, PA, he was the son of the late Bernard and Clarabelle (Schaffer) Nicely.

Bruce is survived by his children: Bruce, Karen and Beatrice; his grandchildren: Richard, Robert (his wife Kayla), Carolina, Bruce, Amanda, Derek and Alex; his 7 great-grandchildren; his 2 great-great-grandchildren; his sister Sandy and her husband Don, his sister Portia, his brother Teddy and his wife; and many extended relatives, and friends.

Bruce's final days were made especially precious by the love and laughter of his great-grandchildren Logan and Paisley. Living just upstairs, they would come down each day to spend time with him, and those visits were among the moments he cherished most. Bruce loved having them close and treasured every minute they shared together. He and Logan had their own special fun playing "Now you have it," while Paisley brought him endless joy with her sweet kisses and high fives. The love between them was unmistakable, and their daily visits brought comfort, happiness, and warmth to Bruce during his final days. The memories they created together will forever be a beautiful part of the legacy of love he leaves behind.

Funeral arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at The Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Buzzards Bay, MA on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 9:30 AM.

I thought of you today but that is nothing new. Throughout the years we have been apart I often thought of you. All I have are memories and your picture. I will never part the memories I have of you. Your brother Ted.

My big brother will be missed. He was a ray of sunshine with a sense of humor. He is in his glory now united with his wife of many years. I will miss our talks every Tuesday evening. Rest in peace Bruce. Will see you in future. Love Sandy or as you called me -grandma.

My mom's only brother was a very happy and polite person to anyone he met! He treated his younger sisters with love and was a king soul! He so reminded me of my grandfather (his dad) who was always clowning around and laughing! I will always remember him with a big smile on his face!
