Obituary For Carl Earl Harper

Carl E. Harper, 78 of Warren, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at home with his wife and children by his side. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Morin) Harper for 53 years. Raised in Linwood, MA, he was a son of the late Theodore and Jenny (Wesgan) Harper.

He proudly served in the US Navy before graduating from Northeastern University as an electrical engineer. He had a successful 30 years career at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Middletown, RI. Carl enjoyed boating, his retired winters in Naples, FL, and spending quality time with his friends and family. He was a member of the Bristol Elks.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Jim and Traci Harper of Warren, Diane and Frederic Lherbier of France and Donna and Jim Hooker of East Greenwich. Devoted grandfather of Max and Laura Lherbier and Sophia and Hayden Harper. He was the brother of Owen Harper of Lunenburg, MA, Bradford Harper, Elaine Miller, both of Whitinsville, MA and the late Peter Harper and Beverly Weinmann.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI 02885, where family will receive friends, Friday, May 26th, 5:30-7:30pm. Services Saturday, May 27th, 10:30am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 in St Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main Street, Warren. Burial will be in St Mary of the Bay Cemetery.

    It was my honor and pleasure to have been a colleague of Carl as we worked at NUWC. He was a true Gentleman and very capable engineer. My Prayers go with him and may he rest in peace. My condolences to his family who should be proud of his accomplishments and love of his family.
