Obituary For Carolyn "Lynn" Mary Schultz

Carolyn “Lynn” Mary (Recupero) Schultz, 77, of Bristol, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Miriam Hospital in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late John E. Schultz.

Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Concetta (Caizzi) Recupero.

Lynn grew up in Bristol, graduating from Colt Memorial High School and going on to earn an Associate's Degree from Johnson & Wales. She met her husband while working at Quonset Point as a medical transcriptionist. During their 50-year marriage they traveled across the country, living in Virginia and California before returning to Bristol 40 years ago. They ran Schultz Medical Transcription for 20 years while raising their family.

Lynn was a lifetime member of the Bristol 4th of July Committee and a member of the Dudek Bowling league, where she enjoyed socializing with friends and very occasionally bowling a strike. She had many friends and loved spending time with them.

She enjoyed hosting Christmas Eve dinner for her extended family, serving seven fishes, and never repeating the same menu. She memorialized this special tradition by writing a family cookbook of her favorite recipes. Always thinking of others before herself, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Lynn is survived by her daughters, Kimberley Dias and her husband Kenneth of West Kingston, RI, Francine DePina and her husband Craig of Warren, RI, and Carolyn Schultz of Bristol; her granddaughter, Taryn Girouard of Florida; her brother Joseph Recupero and his wife Patricia of Bristol; her sister Anna Maria Conley and husband William of Bristol; her niece Catherine Conley and nephew Robert Conley of Bristol.

Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Lynn with her warmth, humor, wisdom and generous, creative spirit is my favorite cousin and always there for me over the years. I always have known what a luxury it's been to enjoy her friendship and love and joy and family recipes and memories and ties and great example of a life lived with heart. My deepest sympathy is with you, her loving family.

SO terribly sorry to have just learned of this! Lynn was so excellent of a cousin and a person. She had an amazing, unique gift of delightfully raw honesty with always making me roar with appreciative and raucous laughter. Lynn is forever a rare treasure of a person to miss and celebrate.

Lynn was an amazing friend to my mother. Im saddened to hear of her passing . Her laughter and sense of humor will always be remembered! She loved to call me "My Virginia" -my mother's way of referring to me as not to confuse me with her sister Virginia. Eventually Lynn just shortened it to My. I do know heaven just got a little bit more fun now that Lynn and Sarah are back together!
