Obituary For Charles K. Oliver

Charles K. Oliver, 90, of Warren, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Hope Health in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Julianna (Gablinske) Oliver, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.

Born in Leeds, Canada, he was the son of the late John R. And Katie L. Oliver. Charles. He was raised in Canada and participated in Boy Scouts of Canada, Canadian ski patrol and was a graduate of A.S. Johnson Memorial High School, Thetford Mines, Quebec.

He was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his girls, Julie and Heather. As a family they often traveled to Canada and spent annual vacations at Sunset Park in New Hampshire. Charles liked gardening and travel, especially to Florida, the Bahamas, Iceland, and the trip of a lifetime to find his family roots in Scotland. He loved animals and never met a creature he didn’t like.

Before arriving in the U.S., Charles was employed in the asbestos industry, but had studied the art of upholstery and opened his own shop in Warren. Settling into community life, he gave back as a member of the Juvenile Hearing Board, a life member of the Massasoit Hook and Ladder Company, and later with the Warren rescue squad.

He is survived by his loving wife, Julianna (Gablinske) Oliver of Warren, a cousin, Richard O. Nugent of Virginia, as well as fourteen nieces and nephews. He was the loving father of the late Heather L. Oliver of Warren and brother to his four late sisters, Irene Patterson of St. Catharines, Ontario, Lila McLean of Perth, Ontario, Shirley Keashly of Calgary, Alberta, and Libby Vanderwiele of Montreal, Quebec. Charlie was a very good person. I knew him around 1962 in Thetford Mines, Quebec, Canada. At the time, he worked in the asbestos mine laboratory. I remember him participating in the Leeds festival (a little town close to Thetford Mines) and joining the Fife and Drum Corps, which he was very proud of. We were in the Canadian Ski Patrol and skied at Mont Adstock (Thetford Mines). Every year, he helped teach the first aid courses required to be in the Ski Patrol. Everyone had great respect for Charlie. Rest in peace, dear friend.
