Obituary For David J. Pombo

Pombo, David J. Jr., 48, of Water St., Warren, passed away Wednesday, September 25th, 2013. He was the beloved husband and companion of Linda Tarantelli for 21 years.

Dave was a landscaper who worked diligently to hone his craft. He was a perfectionist whose landscaping was always pristine, which was more than evident when listening to his clients rave about his work. Dave was employed at Davenports Restaurant and also worked many years at Greggs Restaurant.

Dave was an active member in the Kingsmen and Ocean State Drum and Bugle Corps for many years. It was a passion he shared with his father-in-law, as well as several other family members.

He was a motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed traveling the open road with his wife, son, brother-in-law and sister-in-law. He also was devoted to his four beloved cats, Punk, Dino, Sassie, and Sammy.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his dear mother, Judy Pombo, and his devoted son, David J. Pombo III. He also leaves two brothers, Jay Pombo (Rhonda) of TN and Anthony Pombo of KY, and two sisters, Tricia Maciel (Richard) of East Providence and Cheryl Laneres (Donald) of Cumberland.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, where the family will receive friends Monday, September 30, 2013 from 4-7PM. Funeral Tuesday at 9AM with a Service in the funeral home at 10AM. Burial in St. Jean-Baptiste Cemetery, Warren.

In lieu of flowers donations in Davids name may be made to the Providence Animal Rescue League 34 Elbow St. Providence, RI 02903. www.wjsmithfh.com

    Dear Linda & Family, please except my condolences for your loss. I am so very sorry. I worked with Dave at Davenport's, when I would go outside for a quick break, I would often ask Dave to go with me. We had an array of topics to discuss, everything from Linda's shopping, his cats, the ant hills on my lawn and just about everything in between. I will truly miss him & our chats on the loading dock.     Hello, I am David's cousin Sophie. I was so sorry to hear of David's passing. I haven't seen Cheryl, Jay or David since they were very young, so young in fact that the last time we saw each other my Uncle brought us to an amusement park and we rode the kiddie rides. It sounds to me that David grew into a hard working man with a loving family. I was so pleased to discover this. Please know that my husband,daughter and I would like to offer our deepest sympathies.
