Obituary For David St. Ours

David St. Ours, 66, of Warren, RI, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. A son of the late Louis and Harriet (Perry) St. Ours, David worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Raytheon for 42 years before retiring in 2019. He was a lifelong resident of Warren.

David loved his family more than anything and was the best big brother; always protecting and loving his sisters, Linda, Susan and Donna. He was more than just an uncle to his nieces and nephews, he was a constant in their everyday lives – from countless dance recitals, softball games and band concerts, to graduations, first jobs and weddings. David was a selfless man who put everyone ahead of himself and his unconditional love extended beyond his family. He loved his Sundays at the Jannitto house, especially his cherished time with Mikey.

David enjoyed beautiful summer days, whether it was on his boat, “Sunday Funday”, or creating countless memories with his beloved Goff’s turned Thames family that spans over two decades. Although he will be sadly missed by so many, he can be fondly remembered when the weather gets warmer and you can hear Colby James on the rooftop.

David is survived by his sisters, Linda St. Ours of Warren, Susan Costa of Bristol, and Donna Molloy and her husband Darrell of Bristol; his nieces and nephews, Allie Costa, Sophie Ross and her husband Nolan, Johnny Molloy, Harrison Molloy and Sullivan Molloy; as well as many cousins that he loved dearly.

Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI, where the family will receive relatives and guests for Visitation on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 4-7PM. Committal Services will be private.

Condolences

Condolences to Linda, Susan, and Donna for the loss of their brother. I remember well how he and my sister would take me to RI Oceaneers soccer games at Pierce Field, even though neither had any interest in soccer. Dave often fell into fits of laughter at silly things, and that is how I will remember him.

David gave me my first job, delivering the Warren Times in the town's north end. The route had been his for years and he was on to something new. He was patient and took time to show me shortcuts for folding and carrying the load of papers, who liked it delivered early, and even those folks who were slow to pay. Some people leave a lasting impression with their kindness, David was one of those people. Peace and prayers for his loving family. Mary (Marchand)Thomsen

I am shocked and saddened to learn of David's passing. He was such a joy to work with, always smiling, and he made the job fun. So knowledgeable.... I learned so much from him. Many great memories of traveling to visit suppliers during my Subcontracts days, especially to Killdeer, North Dakota. One of the best was our ride through beautiful Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the Badlands after work one day. Mustangs and bison, along with the beautiful scenery. Sending prayers to his family and friends, and wishing them the comfort of happy memories. - Beth Ripa
