Obituary For Domenico "Dan" John DeAngelis

Domenico “Dan” John DeAngelis, 91, of Riverside, Rhode Island, passed away Friday, August 22, 2025, at Evergreen Nursing Home in East Providence, Rhode Island. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret “Peggy” Rose (Gallacher) DeAngelis.

Born on December 27, 1933, in Providence, RI, he was the son of late Domenico and Caterina Petteruto DeAngelis.

DeAngelis was co-owner and operator of the former Dan’s Wigwam restaurant and DeAngelis Pizzeria, in Warren, where he worked alongside to his wife, “Peggy” until their retirement in 2000.

An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, he enjoyed bringing his dog Toby to Colt State Park to run on the rocks and watch the deer.

Dan had an extraordinary work ethic and took pride in taking care of his home. He kept himself busy between cooking for those he loved, watching the animals in his yard and working in the garden.

Dan will be remembered for his hospitality, delicious meals and the endless relationships he formed throughout the years.

Domenico is survived by his son, Stephen DeAngelis and his wife Wendy; son in law Henry Conley; grandchildren Brittany (Conley) and her husband Charles Souza, Ian Conley and his wife Jennifer Meyer and Alexandra DeAngelis; Great-granddaughter, Naliyah; great-grandsons Elias and Connor. Domenico was the father of the late Debra (DeAngelis) Conley and brother of the late Evelyn DeAngelis.

Services are with Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI 02885 where the family will receive relatives and guests for Visitation on Thursday, August 28 from 8-10AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM in St. Mary of the Bay Parish, 645 Main Street, Warren, RI 02885. Burial to follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, 72 Church Street, Cranston, RI 02920.

    Our sincere Condolences to the family at this sad time. We loved this man "Dan" his restaurant in uptown Warren was a part of all of our childhoods, he had the biggest heart of anyone I knew and was very kind to all of the teenagers that frequented his Wigwam. He and my Mother were very good friends from the time I was very young and he was sad to hear of her passing in 2016. I will miss him and what he represented, Kindness, Sincerity and Friendship Rest in peace Dear Friend you earned it in more ways than I can express

    To Stephen and family. My deepest condolences to you and your family. Dan was a great guy, I would stop into Dan's Wigwam and always enjoy the conversation. He would talk about his days growing up in Silver Lake. Many years ago when we would go to the pizzeria you mother would always talk about you, she was vey proud of you and Deborah. You had great parents, cherish the memories you have of them.
