Obituary For Donna A. Medeiros

Donna Medeiros, 77, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Cirillo) Karnes and the beloved wife of the late Joseph Medeiros, Sr.

Donna devoted her life to caring for others. She retired in 2013 from the James L. Maher Center, where she worked as a Patient Assistant and was deeply committed to the well-being of those she served. Her compassion extended far beyond her profession, as she was a devoted caregiver to many loved ones throughout her life.

She had a special love for animals — birds, dogs, and her cat — each treasured as a true member of the family. Donna was also fondly remembered for her many years at The Common Pub, where she served the community during the popular fish & chip Wednesdays and Fridays.

In her younger years, Donna proudly participated in Drum and Bugle Corps, forming friendships that endured throughout her life. She enjoyed bowling, a lively game of bingo, and spending time with those she loved. She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church in Bristol.

Donna leaves her loving son, Joseph Medeiros Jr. and his wife Charlene of Warren. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Brian Medeiros, Jennifer Costa, Dennisse Agosto, Jason McKenzie, and Brandon McKenzie, and a cherished great-grandmother to Jon, Owen, Brian, Juan, and Oliver.

She is also survived by her brothers, James and Robert Karnes, and her longtime companion, Bobby Iervolino. Donna was predeceased by her son, Christopher James Medeiros.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, where family and friends and welcome to gather on Saturday, March 7th from 9:00 – 11:00am. A funeral service will begin at 11:00am at the funeral home, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bristol.

Donna oh Donna. We spent many a day during our time together ❤️. I have GREAT memories of us in the back yard of Joe's mom's house. You had a GREAT laugh which was inspiring 🤣. Now you can be with your husband and family and friends who are in your life. Say hello to everyone for me. God Bless and R.I.P.
