Dorothy C. "Dot" (Patnaude) Nevins, 97, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023, at the Crestwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Warren. She was the wife of the late Joseph G. "Jerry" Nevins. Born in Providence on July 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John B. Patnaude and Harriet L. (Bacon) Patnaude.

Dot grew up in Providence as the eldest of 8 siblings. She frequented Newport during the war, ultimately meeting Jerry and marrying in 1950. Dot raised her family for the next 30 years, and volunteered for many services and causes around Newport. In 1980 she went to work at the CVS store on Bellevue Avenue, retiring in 2000. Dot enjoyed her retirement years living at West House in Middletown.

Dot is survived by her 3 children, Joe and wife Joan, of Naples, FL and Bristol, Jim and wife Sang, of Ventura, CA, and daughter Judy and her partner Jack, of Fall River. She leaves her 3 beautiful granddaughters, Laura and Amanda Nevins, and Brittany Potter. Most cherished to Dot were her 2 great grandchildren, Ava Medeiros and Cameron Heroux.

Although Dot was the eldest, she was the last of the Patnaude children, predeceased by sisters Harriet L. Black, Jean N. Grzych, Clarice E. McClelland, Alice C. D'Amicio and Yvonne R. Buchanan, brothers Charles J. and John B. Patnaude.

At Dot's request she was to be cremated, with calling hours and services omitted. The family would like to thank the staff of Crestwood Nursing and Rehab for all of the kindness and care given to Dot in her residence there. Contributions in Dot's memory can be made to Crestwood Nursing Activities Department, Child St., in Warren, or to Beacon Hospice, Catamore Blvd., East Providence.
