Obituary For Elsie A. Cabral

Elsie A. Cabral, age 99, of Bristol, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, under hospice care at Newport Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Bristol, she was a proud Portuguese-American and held dual citizenship in Portugal and the United States. She was one of fifteen siblings and the devoted mother of five children. Elsie is survived by her children: Owen Favro (Esther) Deborah Allen (Donald), Karen Booth (Charles), William Cabral (Naomi), and Richard Cabral. Her family grew to include forty-seven grandchildren — spanning five generations who loved her dearly.

Mrs. Cabral worked for many years at Raytheon Corporation before retiring and moving to Florida with her husband, William Joseph Cabral. She later returned to Rhode Island and resided at Dawn Hill Home in Bristol for the past three years.

Known for her feisty spirit and boundless love, she brought joy to all who met her. She loved to dance (Jitterbug), sing, and cook — and no one ever left her home hungry. She especially cherished caring for children. And more than anything, she loved being surrounded by family. Family meant everything to her. A lifelong Red Sox fan, she also had a special love of Christ and Christmas music which filled her home with warmth.

Her sweetness, kindness, energy and love for life will be remembered by all who knew her.

Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI 02885, where the family will receive relatives and guests for Visitation on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 12-3PM with a Service at 2PM. Family and Friends are invited to gather at Smith Funeral & Memorial Services on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 9AM and process to the Burial at 11AM at Newport Memorial Park Cemetery, 123 Howland Ave, Middletown, RI 02842.
