Obituary For Esther M. Scott

Esther May (Raposa) Scott, 88, of Warren, RI, passed away peacefully at home with her family on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Born and raised in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Florence (Morro) Raposa.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Andrew “Skip” Scott; her daughters, Cheryl Mello and her husband Doug of Westport, MA and Gail Medeiros of Phoenix, AZ; and her sister, Kathleen Shannon of Dartmouth, MA.

Esther was on many committees in the former St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Warren and a current member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Barrington, RI. She was a former President of the Warren German American Club, a member of the Massasoit Historical Society, the Warren Yacht Club, and a founding member of the Friends of Lower Bridge Street. Esther was an extremely talented Florist. She attended RISD and took many courses on Floral Design and, later, was the owner and operator of Customized Flowers by Esther for 35 years. She was also a Wedding Planner - before it was fashionable - and she would often be seen decorating businesses around Warren at Christmas time.

Esther was a very candid, outspoken person and openly shared whatever was on her mind. She was thoughtful, active, and friendly. Esther enjoyed many cruises, vacations, and staycations with Skip and their friends. She will be missed by friends, family and all that knew her. May she rest in peace.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI 02885. A Private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Health Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St. Providence, RI 02904.

Mom, My heart is sad and I miss you very much. I wish we had more time, but I'm thankful for what we had. I will never forget the memories we made and all the laughs we had at out lunches with Nanna and Donna. Every time I see Flowers I can't help but think of you, especially Sunflowers. I will carry you in my heart until we meet again. Rest in Peace. I Love You! Cheryl
