Obituary For Evelyn F. Troia

Evelyn F. (Audette) Troia, 66, of Seekonk, MA, passed away on June 20, 2025 with her loving family at her side after a courageous 5-year battle with pancreatic cancer. A daughter of the late Arthur and Evelyn (Robitielle) Audette and the beloved wife of Thomas Troia, Evelyn grew up in Fall River, MA and later settled with Thomas in Seekonk, where they have lived for the last 35 years. The greatest thing to ever happen in Thomas’ life was the 46 years they shared.

Evelyn had a magnetic personality and had the ability to connect instantly with everyone she met. She was an exceptional cook and loved to entertain company. Being the youngest of 13 children, she naturally became accustomed to cooking for a small army of family members. Evelyn had the gift of a green thumb and could make anything grow. Her home was filled with a thriving jungle of houseplants that flourished under her care, and in the summer, she found joy and peace in tending her garden. She took great pride in growing her own vegetables and herbs, often using the bounty from her garden in her cooking. More than anything Evelyn loved being with her family. That family included not only her own children, but their friends as well. She specialized in spoiling her grandchildren and sharing her laughter and kind words with everyone around her. Evelyn was deeply loved by anyone who knew her and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her beloved husband, Thomas, Evelyn is survived by her son, Matthew Troia and his wife, Adrianne of Warren, RI; her daughter, Sarah Goldsmith of Seekonk, MA and her partner Patrick Lofgren of Berkley, MA ; her brother, Rene Audette and his wife Carol of AL; her sisters, Blanche Panell and her husband Michael of FL, Juliette Pacheco and her partner Scott Garant of Fall River, MA, and Paula Desmarais of TN; her grandchildren, Liam, Freya, Fox and Ida; as well as many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. She was the sister of the late Arthur Audette, Henri Audette, Richard Audette, Robert Audette, Normand Audette, Roger Audette, Theresa Caroll, and Alice Correia.

Tom, When Carl told me of Evelyn's passing, I felt so sad. She was who the obituary said about her. A warm, engaging, and genuine person is what comes to mind. I did not know her well, but always found her bright smile and spirit whenever we ran into each other. May the Lord bless and comfort you and your family as you find your way through each day. Paula and Carl Gibeau
