Dear Jane and family: Although no words can express how we all feel, I hope you know that our sympathy and love is shared with you all.

  • 04/27/2021

Please accept my apologies, but I have only just read about Francis' passing today. I grew up in the same neighborhood with the Jamiel "boys" and went all through school with them. Francis, like his father, was always larger than life, friendly, and fun. I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to his wife and daughters, and to Mrs. Lily Jamiel, and Francis' brothers and extended family. I will always remember Francis.

Sorry I couldn't be there to deliver condolences in person. Even though we are 2nd cousins (my grandmother and his grandfather were siblings), I didn't meet Tut until Brown. He was kind, welcoming and genuine. We are all very sorry for your loss. A wonderful husband, father, brother and son. You are so fortunate to have had him in your lives. His courage and humor will live on.

Tut was first class. He made you feel important and special. He was very proud of his family, all Brown Student-Athletes, Football and of course shoes! He fitted shoes for Brown women's basketball team many years, came to our games, sent his daughters to our camp and always encouraged! He was an Ivy League Champion. His laugh was sincere, contagious and so wonderful. My four daughters' feet grew up in Jamiels Shoes! We send our love, prayers and thoughts for strength. Love the Burr Family

Back to school shopping always meant a trip to Jamiels! Mr. Jamiel (as us children called him) would always greet us with a smile, my Mom with a hug and took fabulous care of us. While it has been years since I have seen him last, I will forever have memories of the kind, smiling person that he was. May memories that you hold in your heart, console you during the very difficult time.

When I was a kid an "old man" told me that if the epithet on you tomb stone reads "He was a Good Man" you lived a great life. Well Francis was well beyond that. He could not have been a better person. He was a tremendous Friend. He was so proud of his Family and the most positive guy ever. I miss him already but be assured he will live on in all of us forever. God, we always had fun! Love you buddy!. The one good thing for me was I was able to tell him that. Rest in Peace my Friend! Forever in my Prayers........

My sincerest condolences to the Jamiel family. I grew up around the corner from Francis and my childhood memories include Francis, Nicky, and the little brothers. I remember Francis as good-natured and fun-loving. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. I attended school with Tut through high school, then we all moved on with our lives. While in school, he was a great football player and excelled in sports. He had a zest for life. I last saw Tut in church with his family and he was very happy, always smiling. He was taken from this world too soon, but rest assured, God only takes the best. May he rest in peace and his family find peace at well, knowing that Tut is in a better place where there is no more suffering.

I don't think I know anyone else who knows Francis. But I moved to RI in 2005 and joined the gym and spin class. I went consistently for a year before we moved again, and my only memory of that gym is Francis. He spun like a man possessed and immediately made the new guy (and youngest by 20 years) feel like family. What a charismatic, special, generous, and memorable person. God bless all of you who knew him and loved him. Just thought I'd share...

So very sorry to hear of Francis' passing. He was one of a kind - a gentle spirit who loved all he came in contact with. I always got great service whenever I went in to buy my sneakers. No one has given me a better fit since he left Jamiel's Shoe World. May God be with the family and give them strength during this very sad time. Mike and Nancy Gibbemeyer

Only Francis could light up a room at 6:00 in the morning day after day. Spinning will never be the same. He's a special guy and lucky to have had all of you around him. We'll miss him so much. Charlie
