Obituary For Francisco "Frank" Silveira

Francisco “Frank” Silveira, 58, of North Providence, RI, passed away on August 19, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. Francisco was born on May 7, 1966, in Agualva, Terceira, Azores. He was the son of the late João Silveira and Maria (Melro) Silveira.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife Sheila (Famiano) Silveira; his children, Jennifer Histen and her husband William Histen of Attleboro, Sabrina Silveira DaCosta and her husband Samuel DaCosta of North Providence, Jason Silveira of North Providence; and grandson Christopher Clement of Attleboro. He was the brother of the late Lidia Kehoe, Maria Viera, Sandra Medeiros, and Lucille Medeiros.

Frank was an outstanding and distinguished chef, rising from humble beginnings as a dishwasher to Executive Chef at St. George’s School in Middletown. Frank also started his own catering business, Silveira’s Catering. He catered numerous weddings and events all over Rhode Island, also serving the U.S. Naval War College and Naval Station in Newport. What he enjoyed most was cooking for his family, friends, and neighbors. Frank was a wonderful storyteller who made friends everywhere he went. He was a dedicated family man, a wonderful father to his children, and an amazing grandfather. He loved hosting gatherings with his entire family and entertaining his beautiful nieces and nephews.

Frank, unfortunately, suffered from Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy which eventually took his life, but never took his spirit or personality. In lieu of flowers, the Silveira family requests donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). You can do so at https://www.mda.org/.

Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI 02885, where the family will receive relatives and guests for Visitation on Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 4-7PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 10AM at Smith Funeral & Memorial Services followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St. Bristol, RI 02809. The burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence, RI 02915.

Sheila & children, my deepest condolences on the loss of Frank. I have so many happy memories remembering my times with him at the FOP where I would always hire him to cater our events. He never complained and worked so hard even though some days it must have been so hard for him to keep going he did. This was after his long day at Dt George's. He was a magnificent chef. May he RIP Diane

Frank grew up with me like a sibling. So we would catch up and share our updates. His beloved and caring wife Sheila whom he loved so much, his daughters Jennifer and her family, Sabrina and her husband and Jason. He was so proud of them. Very family oriented he ganledge the right from wrong , kindness from hatred by staying away from what wouldn't coap with. Always laughable with good humor until he worn out like a candle. His light throughout his life for sure shines out now on his children and generations to come.
