Frederick G. Fred Press, 72 of Warren, died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 8, 2014.

He was the loving husband of Carol A. (Lavey) Press, they were married for over 39 years.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Harrison Joseph Press.

Fred was born in Coudersport, PA., a son of the late Gordon H. & Josephine (Huntington) Press.

He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer after serving over 20 years He remained committed to his military career and taught boiler engineering at the Great Lakes Naval Base following his retirement. When he returned to Rhode Island, he worked for Rhode Island Hospital Trust as a boiler engineer. He later pursued a career in tractor trailer transportation and towing.

Besides his wife he is survived by four children he loved as his own, Anthony W. DuPont, III and his wife Lisa of Bristol, Kathleen A. DuPont and Margaret E. DuPont of Bristol, Deanna L. Smith of Warren.

Fred was the devoted grandfather of Michael Gehrke, Christina Tatro, David Tatro, Ryan Vieira, and Kyle Vieira.

He was the brother of Greta Mulberry and Gloria Roney both of Lexington, Kentucky.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren.

Burial with Military Honors will be Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 at 11:30am in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Vernon St. Warren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Warren Animal Shelter, 80 Wood Street, Warren, RI 02885.
