I had the honor of meeting Mr. Pacheco about 8 months ago. It was my privilege to help care for him as one of his physicians. Before long, we realized that my wife Sue and I were friends with Paolo during his time at Brown. Even after knowing Mr.Pacheco for a relatively brief time, I can't say I am surprised by the incredible accomplishments listed here. He clearly made the most of every day. His energy and zest for life were obvious within seconds of meeting him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his large and loving family at this very difficult time.

Our condolences to the entire Pacheco Family. Your husband, dad and grandfather made a difference in the world and you should be as proud of him as I am for having known him. He accomplished a lot and left the world a better place. Through his involvement he touched thelives of many. For that we are most grateful and I am sure he will be compensated in heaven. He was also a member of Grupo Amigos Da Terceira in Pawtucket and we are very proud of having had him as a member. He alwys had close ties to Terceira. May he rest in peace and may God give you the confort that you need during this difficult time.

Please accept my condolences on the death of your father and grandfather. Sara, I'm very sorry that when I saw you tonight I did not sympathize with you, but I had no idea your grandfather had passed. Please extend my sympathy to your mom, dad and sister.

As we join you, Fred's family, in mourning the loss of our brother in Rotary, please take some comfort in this: we are all aware (because Fred told us so again and again - with the greatest joy) that the proudest accomplishment of his life was not the countless accolades he received as became an honored part of the very fabric of his adopted community; it was you... his family. His beloved Deodete, his children Angela and Paulo, their spouses, and his grandchildren. How glad we are - perhaps even envious - that Fred had the final joy of knowing that his true legacy would be such caring and admired individuals, dedicated to making service to others the most important part of their lives. As this moment's grief abates, to be replaced by wonderful memories, may you continue to live your lives as Fred did: with passion, compassion, and grace.

Fred was a good friend and mentor. I will miss his advice, good nature and traveling with him, his family and friends. As a fellow Rotarian, he truly exemplified the motto of "Service Above Self." I'm sure our God greeted him with open arms saying, "Well done my good and faith servant." Matthew 25:21 "Man's body is a fleeing thing, but a virtuous name will never be annihilated." Sirach41: 11-13 Rest in peace my good friend, you will be missed.
