Obituary For Gaetana D. John

Gaetana D. (Daddio) John, 80, of Warren, RI passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 13, 2024. A daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Benes) Daddio, Gaetana was born in Manhattan, NY and lived in many places throughout her life: California, Maryland, Michigan, Florida and most recently; Rhode Island. She traveled the world and loved to recount her many experiences with others.

Gaetana was a vibrant and incredibly creative person who brought a strong, unique presence with her wherever she went. The people who knew her best said she possessed a “bohemian spirit” which accounted for her free spirit, engaging personality and empathetic, full of life nature. She was selfless and cared deeply for those she loved and went out of her way to make everyone she encountered feel acknowledged and appreciated. Gaetana had her own chic sense of style and was a culinary expert who frequently expresser her love for others through her cooking. She will be greatly missed.

Most of all, she loved to be with her family, especially her son, Asher

Gaetana is survived by her son, Nicolas “Asher” John of Boston, MA; her daughter, Tonya “Toni” of FL; her former husband, Dr. David A. John of FL; her sister, Dion Benitez and her husband Victor of NJ; and her niece, Atienne DeConciliis and her husband Anthony. She was the mother of the late Tarek John and the sister of the late Joanina Brandkamp and Tonya Daddio.

    Gae was my Best Friend...we grew-up in The Bronx sharing many memories and adventures. Although her life a mine went in different directions, we always acknowledged the value of our relationship . Renewing and refreshing our life stories always with caring about each other's life changes. Asher you were her saving grace. She loved you dearly. I personally thank you for being there for her. As for me ...she will always be my Best Friend. ..

    My deepest condolences to Nick and family. I never met Gaetana in person, but I feel like I knew her through Nick's stories. Stylish, loving, and most importantly, she put others before herself. She was blessed to have a son like Nick. My prayers are with the family and I'm sure she will be smiling down from Heaven.
