Obituary For Gail E. DeVine
Gail E. (Ramos) DeVine, 69, of Bristol, RI, passed away on April 20, 2026 at RI Hospital due to heart complications, with her loving family by her side. She was the loving wife of Mark G. DeVine.
Born in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Rose (Madeiro) Ramos. She lived in Bristol all her life.
She graduated from Bristol High School in 1975. She worked for many years as a waitress at Howard Johnson’s Restaurant in Somerset. She then worked as an office clerk at Martin Copeland Company in East Providence until she was injured at work in 1983. She stayed home to raise her son and when he was grown, went to work as a bus person and hostess at Green Eggs in Bristol. She loved being with the public and serving people, bringing them joy, a smile, a laugh and an encouraging word. She was well known for her entertaining outfits and “crazy socks”.
She was a great supporter of the military and veterans, especially the Marines, like her dad. She was a founding member and Vice President of Front Line Ministry for Freedom. A ministry that supports active members of the military and veterans by sending care packages to the troops overseas and raising funds to support other veterans’ organizations. Her most rewarding activity was organizing the annual FLMFF Ride for Freedom, a motorcycle ride that raised tens of thousands of dollars for the troops over the years, along with her side-kick and cousin David Benevides.
She also loved Bristol’s annual Fourth of July Celebration, attending many parades, concerts and July 4th activities in the town she loved.
Gail loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she is now seeing face to face. She was a member of Radiant Christian Assembly of God in Warren, all of her life, and served in the church in many capacities over the years.
In addition to her husband of 43 years, she leaves behind her son, Joshua G. DeVine, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, grandson, Zachary of Barrington, and sister, Rebecca A. Madeiro of Portsmouth, RI. She also leaves her closest cousins, Sherrill Ferreria of Bristol, David Benevides of Bristol, Valerie DeCosta of Warren, and her best friend Gail Garcia of Bristol, as well as many other relatives, friends and Green Eggs customers she has met over the years. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Rose Ramos.
The family would like to thank Dr. Neel Sodha and all of the doctors, nurses and other medical professionals at Newport Hospital and RI Hospital for the excellent care she received during the short time she was there.
Funeral arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI where family will receive friends Monday, April 27, 2026 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Her funeral will start from Smith Funeral & Memorial Services on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 9:00 AM with a Christian Celebration of Life Service at Radiant Christian Assembly of God, 895 South Main Street, Warren at 10:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol, RI.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Front Line Ministry for Freedom, 20 Peckham Place, Bristol, RI 02809.

Sincerely sorry for the family's loss of Gail. May you forever feel her love in every memory you've made together. May those beautiful memories bring smiles to your faces, even behind tears shed. Know that death was never God's plan (Gen. 1:28; Rom. 5:12), so he gives us hope; the hope that loved ones will be resurrected (Acts 24:15) to life forever on a paradise earth (Ps. 37:11,29) as God intended from the beginning. Cherish the hope and the countless beautiful memories of your beloved wife/mother/sister, Gail.
