George E. Pires of Warren died Thursday Dec. 8, 2016 at RI Hospital.

He was born in Fall River, a son of the late Frank and Mary ( McKenzie) Pires.

He was a self- employed fisherman.

Mr. Pires was a US Navy Veteran serving in Vietnam.

George has lived in Warren for most of his life, he enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and snowmobiling. He enjoyed all local festivals and carnivals.

He liked the New England Patriots and the New York Yankees.

Mr. Pires is survived by a brother Louis Pires of Bristol, and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Frank Pires, Alfred Pires, Joseph Pires, Bobby Pires, Arthur Pires, and also a late sister Mary.

His funeral service will be held Wednesday Dec. 28, 2016 at 9:30am in the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, burial with Military Honors will be held in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI at 11:00am.
