Obituary For George Harmon
George (Loren) Harmon, 68, of Warren, Rhode Island died on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center of Home & Hospice Care of RI. He suffered a long battle with COPD.
George was the beloved husband of the late Lucille (Agostinho) Harmon. He is honored and remembered by his wifes family: Lucilles parents, the late Arthur & Carmella Agostinho, sister, Philomena Galuppo, sister Fran (Paul) Baker, brother Arthur (Carol) Agostinho, sister Roseanne (David) Chee, and numerous nephews & nieces.
George was the son of the late Norman & Phyllis (Beck) Harmon of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is survived by his sister, Irene Ramnire of Cocoa, Florida and his half-brother, Bobby Proctor of Daytona Beach, FL. He is also survived by his Aunt Faith (Beck) & Campbell Choate and cousin David of Florence, South Carolina, and cousin Jimmy Eaves, of Sumter, South Carolina.
George was a Vietnam-era veteran serving with the U.S. Navy from 1965 through 1967. He is a retired employee of Collette Vacations in Pawtucket, RI. To his wifes familys dismay, he was an avid Dolphin football fan, as well a Yankee baseball fan. He enjoyed the rivalry of his favorite teams against the New England teams and the resulting family banter. He loved his black coffee, chocolate chip cookies, and his insatiable love for shrimp. The most important thing of all was the quality time he spent with his family throughout his adult life. He enjoyed taking his nieces and nephews on trips, family outings, playing games, and being a great conversationalist. He never had an ill word to say about anybody, and he was loved by all. He will be surely missed, and although he is no longer with us, he will now be reunited with his one true love, Lucille.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, February 3rd from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 4th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Home & Hospice Care of RI. www.wjsmithfh.com
