Obituary For George James Bennett

George J. Bennett, 97, of Warren, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at the Home and Hospice Care of RI.

Mr. Bennett was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., a son of the late John Fracasso and the late Ida ( Guiffra) Bennett, and the stepson of the late Albert Bennett.

George was employed by New England Telephone and Telegraph Company as a lineman. There was no retirement for George, after leaving NET&T, he then became self-employed as the Phone Doktor tending to the sick and ailing phones of yesterday.

Mr. Bennett was a veteran of the US Army during WWII, serving with the Task Force Replacement Pool. George was a member of the Warren Fire Dept. Ladder 1, the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Post 11, and was an avid bowler at Dudek Lanes.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife Joan (Harrison) Bennett, and his faithful dog, Sandy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Helen Jesse, the late Jerome Bennett, and the late Edwin Fracas. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Monday, March 23rd from 9:00-11:00am with a funeral service to follow at the Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. There will be a burial with Military Honors at South Burial Ground, Warren.
