Obituary For Gladys Frates Riley

Gladys ( Moniz) Frates Riley ,89 of Chandler Arizona and formerly of Warren, died Sunday July 13, 2014 at the Emeritus Senior Living in Gilbert Arizona. She was the wife of the late Joseph L. Frates Jr. and also the late John J. Riley Sr.

She was born in Fall River a daughter of the late Ernest and Thomasia ( Moniz) Moniz.

Gladys was a seamstress for the Well Made Dress Shop in Warren, for many years before retiring. She was a of Warren, before moving to Arizona, while in Warren Gladys was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church , and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. Mrs. Frates Riley was an excellent seamstress she even made a relatives wedding dress and the dresses for the bridesmaids , and most of her daughters clothing. She loved decorating cakes for birthdays and weddings. She enjoyed knitting sweaters for family and crocheting afghans. She had been an avid reader . Gladys is survived by her sons Joseph L. Frates III and his wife Diane of Kingsport TN, Kenneth S. Frates and his wife Linda of Gainesville GA., a daughter Susan DeBlois and her husband David of Chandler Arizona. She was the grandmother of 6, and great grandmother of 12, and the great great grandmother of 7.

She was the sister of the late Mozart Moniz, the late Ernest Moniz, the late Leane Furtado, the late Hilda Valentine. Her funeral will be held Wednesday Sept 3, 2014 at 8:00am from the Smith Funeral , Memorial and Cremation Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church , 500 Metacom Ave. Warren, burial will follow in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Vernon St. Warren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours are Tuesday Sept. 2, 2014 from 4-6PM. Gifts in her memory can be sent to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E.
