Obituary For Heather L. Oliver

Heather L. Oliver, 48, of Warren, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at her residence.. Born in Pawtucket, RI, she was the daughter and only child of Charles K. and Julianna (Gablinske) Oliver.

A graduate of Mount Hope High School, Class of 1995, she continued her education at the University of Hartford and CCRI earning a degree in Respiratory Therapy.

At the time of her passing she was pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Rhode Island College while working at the Bayside YMCA. Heather was a member of Christ Church in Swansea where she had sung in the choir and was a member of the Girl Scouts of America. Music was a constant in Heather’s life. She played the flute and piccolo for the Warren High School band and for the East Bay Summer Wind Ensemble. While attending Mt. Hope High School, she picked up the tuba and eventually learned to play the clarinet for fun. She also fifed with the Warren Federal Blues.

As a fourth-generation member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Heather served as Page and Delegate to Continental Congress, in Washington, D.C., several times. She was also a former Rhode Island DAR custodian as well as Past Regent of Bristol Chapter (2013-2015). Heather earned her EMT-C through the Warren Fire Department serving on the rescue squad while also working for Universal and Alert Ambulance Companies. Over 20 years ago, she was accepted as a member of the Massasoit Hook and Ladder Co.

Heather liked to travel and loved visiting England, Paris, and Florida prior to Covid-19. At just six months old, she started taking frequent trips to Canada to see family and friends as well as going on the annual vacation at Sunset Park Campground in New Hampshire. Heather was a passionate animal activist (although allergic to most) and volunteered at the Warren Animal Shelter. This led to the adoption of her longtime canine companion “Li’l Bit” as well as her latest photography class project. She was working with the Bristol Animal Shelter and the Providence Animal Rescue League by taking pictures of animals available for adoption.

In addition to her parents Charles and Julianna, she is survived by numerous cousins in the United States and Canada. She was the granddaughter of the late John R. And Katie L. Oliver of Thetford Mines, Quebec and the late Herman F. and Roberta M. Gablinske of Warren, RI.

Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI 02885, where the family will receive relatives and guests for Visitation on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 4-8PM. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to the Warren Fire Department, 1 Joyce Street, Warren, RI 02885.

    Dear Julie and Charlie, I was so sorry to learn of Heather's passing. I had not seem her for awhile. Do remember her a a very good fifer with the Federal Blues . Big fife line and many happy times, even visits to Block Island. Then she was with the Fire Dept. always helping people. When I saw her last she was so happy an involved with the DAR.
