Obituary For Helen E Nightingale

Helen E. (Kloza) Nightingale, age 97, of Barrington, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2022 at Philip Hulitar Hospice in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Arnold Nightingale.

Helen was born in Lowell, MA into a fun-loving and close Polish family. She was the daughter of the late Felix and Amelia (Gotowka) Kloza.

Helen grew up in Providence then moved to Warren after marrying Arnold. She enjoyed raising her family in Warren and was blessed with good health and many close friendships which included her card-playing group of Helen Sousa, Monie Scanlon, and Ida Hoffma. Helen worked for Royal Diversified Products for over 15 years, then relished her retirement years by participating in activities at the Warren Senior Center, spending time with her grandchildren, and playing tennis. Always a competitor, Helen played to win whether it was a game of tennis, Scrabble, volleyball, cribbage, or a card game. In addition, Helen enjoyed line-dancing, traveling, and her annual summer vacation in Cape Cod with her family.

Helen was an avid reader and a devoted fan of Jeopardy and Survivor; she never missed an episode!

She was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary of the Bay Church for over fifty five years, then attended St. Luke’s Parish in Barrington when she moved to Atria eight years ago .

She is survived by daughters; Nancy Lapre (Roland), Diane DelGreco (Tony), and Sandra Dietter (Rob); sister-in-law Angie Kloza, nieces Elaine Sawtelle and Debbie Kloza, nephews Tommy and David Kloza, 10 grandchildren (Justin, Brandon, and Ryan Lapre; Nick, Kate, and Matt DelGreco; and Bobby, Tyler, Morgan, and Brooke Dietter) and 4 great-grandchildren.

Helen was the sister of the late Stanley Kloza, Genevieve (Jean) Brousseau, Jennie (Jay) Jaron, and Chester Kloza.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Bay Parish on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 11:00am.

Also the family would like to thank nurse Mary Biello, the staff and her friends at Atria in Barrington along with the amazing staff at Hope Hospice and Hope Health for their care and support.

Helen was my mentor when I came to Atria 5 years ago. We shared our meals together and had wonderful conversations about all the games she played and if she won or not. I will miss her terribly. My condolences to her family. Vivian Mintzer

Nana was such a character, she was always on the go and seemed to have more energy than most people half her age. I'll always be grateful for the times we used to meet up for tea, and how she would always without fail, bring out her little China teacups, and an arrangement of delicious cucumber sandwiches for a proper English tea time. I will miss her dearly, and always remember her vivacious spirit and wit. May you rest in peace nana.
