Obituary For Jack Tolar

Jack Tolar, age 87, of Bristol, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Warren Center. He was the husband of the late Lorraine (Brown) Tolar.

Born on April 5th 1937, in Dillon South Carolina, he was the son of the late Jack and Naomi (Martin) Tolar.

In 1955, Jack served in the Navy on the USS Benner DD/DDR 807 which brought him to Newport. He ultimately made Bristol his home for 67 years. Jack was employed by Converse/US Rubber for 28 years. He also worked as a Surveyor’s Helper for 10+ years. Jack was a member of the Jaycees Organization.

Jack is survived by two sons, Jack M. (Lori) Tolar and James “Ted” (Jeanne) Tolar; 2 daughters, Kathy A. (John) Dattoli, Mary R. Tolar and beloved sister, Rose Shanklin. Jack also leaves 15 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Jack was the brother of the late Ruby, Eloise, Pansy, Bobbie Jean, James, Floyd, and Gerald. He was the father of the late Jane Marie Tolar and companion of the late Barbara Sousa.

The family would like to thank both the Warren Center and Visiting Nurse Home and Hospice for their wonderful care. A very special thanks to Jennifer Smith who provided Jack with untiring supplemental support.
