Obituary For James R. Evans

James R. Evans, 78, of Warren, RI, passed away peacefully after a long illness, with his loving family at his side. The son of the late James and Mary (Manfredi) Evans and the beloved husband of Lorelle (Laforge) Evans, James was a longtime resident of Warren, for the last 26 years.

James owned and operated his own Electrical business for many years. His work, however, was overshadowed by his true passion – Antique Cars. James loved to go to classic car shows and would often bring his own ’32 Ford to hang out and listen to 60’s music around other enthusiasts. More than anything, James truly loved to spend time with his beloved dog, Ace and family, especially his grandchildren. They all could be found out in the yard causing mischief together.

In addition to his beloved wife, Lorelle, James is survived by his daughters, Suzanne Correia and her husband David of Swansea, MA and Tammy Briggs and her husband Michael of Warren, RI; his grandchildren, Anthony, Anna, Adam, Kylie and Jaxson; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John Anthony Evans.

Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI 02885, where the family will receive relatives and guests for Visitation on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 8-9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Mary of the Bay Parish, 645 Main St. Warren, RI 02885. A Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Vernon St. Warren, RI 02885.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in James’ memory to Parkinson’s Disease Research at either: https://support.apdaparkinson.org/, or https://give.michaeljfox.org/.

Dear Lorelle and Family, We were so very sorry to learn of Cousin Jim's passing. I have so many fond and funny memories of our childhood "borrowing" carriage wheels to build "hot rods"! No wooden fence in the neighborhood was safe from us! He was an enthusiast back then! Sending our love and condolences. Bob & Cyndy Audette Big Pine Key, FL

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of uncle Jimmy. Sending our heart felt love and prayers. I was thinking about the time when Uncle Jimmy was spinning Kayla, Juli-Ann and Jackie on the yard toy, in the kitchen. I think we all laughed for 2 weeks when Julie flew off. Uncle Jimmy called them "Dizzy Frenchmen". I wish I still had that video. We love you. Love Lynn & Walter
