Obituary For Jessica M. Garakop

Jessica Marie (Castigliego) Garakop, 90, of Warren, passed away peacefully in Providence on Sunday, May 10, 2026. She was the devoted wife of the late John J. Garakop for 61 years before his passing in April of 2017.

Born in Bristol,RI she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Emily (Carbone) Castigliego.

Jessica enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially taking cruises. She was an avid bingo player. She most enjoyed spending time with her family.

Jessica is survived by her children: Debra A. Leider, John J. Garakop (Julie), Susan M. Carlson (Donald Hebert), Nicholas Garakop, Jayne M. Gervais (Steve), Kathi Ann Limoges; her grandchildren: Jill Colvin (Jason), Cory Garakop, Keith J. Carlson, Amy L. Carlson, Nicholas Garakop, II, Gerald T. Stills (Veronica Green), Jennifer L. Black (Adam Floor); her great grandchildren: Ashley M. Carlson, Leksie L. Parker (Antonio Alverez), Mikayla M. Province, Anabella S. Province, Oliver J. Garakop, Colton Garakop, Kyleigh S. St. Martin, Mackenzie M. Black, Jameson J. Floor; her great great grandchild: Zaiden; and many extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents Nicholas and Emily, her granddaughter Kimberly M. Carlson, and her sister Jennie Sears.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI where family will receive friends Monday, May 18, 2026 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Her funeral will start from Smith Funeral & Memorial Services on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol, RI at 10:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol, RI.

Jessica was a very kind person, and I enjoyed running into her from time to time when I was living in Bristol, and her eyes would light up with joy giving me the latest count of her grand children and great grand children.
