John F. Hamlyn Sr., 92 of Warren, died Tuesday Sept. 27,2016 at Grace Barker Nursing Home.

He was the husband of the late C. Shirley (Hird) Hamlyn.

John was born in Providence, a son of the late William and Nina (Saunders) Hamlyn. He was a Mechanical Engineer for Grinnell Corp., for many years.

Mr. Hamlyn was a US Army Veteran serving during WWII, as a Technician 5th grade.

John has lived in Warren for over 20 years coming from Providence , he was a graduate of Providence College, with a B.A.in English.

He had attended church at St. Thomas the Apostle.

Mr. Hamlyn is survived by his children, John F. Hamlyn Jr. of Jacksonville Florida, Diane Medeiros of Warren, Elizabeth Carter of Warwick, Nina Malloy of Rumford, and Joanne Franceschi of North Smithfield.

He was the grandfather of 6, and the great grandfather of 7, and also survived by a niece Karen Blackmar of Exeter.

Mr. Hamlyn was the brother of the late William Hamlyn.

His funeral will be held Monday Oct. 3, 2016 at 9:00am from the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St. Warren, burial with Military Honors in South Burial Ground, Sowamsett Ave, Warren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours are Sunday from 2-5pm.
