Obituary For John Joseph Bailey
Warren - John J. Jack Bailey Jr., 73, of Warren died Monday , Sept.3 ,2018 at home. He was the husband of Margaret (Nerone) Bailey, they were married for over 50 years.
He was born in Newport, a son of the late John J. and Mary E. (Brewster) Bailey, Sr.
Jack was the Manager of Environment, Safety ,and Risk Management , for the Bose Corporation for over 10 years before retiring, prior to that he was the Director of Environmental Affairs, Health, Safety, and Energy for the Acushnet Rubber Company. He has been a Warren resident since 1974, coming from North Providence and Cranston. He was a Graduate of URI with a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Jack was a certified Safety Professional by examination, a Toxic Use Reduction Planner by examination, and a Licensed waste water treatment operator State of Massachusetts.
Jack was also an Adjunct Faculty for Roger Williams University, Chairman of the Board of Massachusetts Safety Council, an Advisory Board Member of Massachusetts Office of Technical Assistance ,Advisory Board Member of U Mass Lowell Toxic Use Reduction Institute, Advisory Board Member of New England Environmental Expo., Developed Case Studies for Acushnet Rubber Company with the U.S. EPA and Rutgers University, an Advisory Board Member for TUV Management Services, an ISO Third party Certifier, Professional Member of Institute of Industrial Engineers, and a Senior Member of the Society of Safety Engineers. Jack was a veteran of the US Army, swerving as Specialist 5th class.
He was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Bay Church. Jack was the Town Moderator for the Town of Warren for almost 20 years , he was also active with the Chamber of Commerce in New Bedford. Jack was a youth baseball coach, a hockey coach, and a member of the Bristol Yacht Club since 1981, and was a past Board Member of the Bristol Yacht Club.
Besides his wife he is survived by his sons John J. Bailey III and his wife Sue of Winthrop MA., Michael J. Bailey II and his wife Kristina of Boston MA.
His funeral will be held Friday September 7, 2018 at 9:00am from the SMITH FUNERAL and MEMORIAL SERVICES, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St. ,Warren.
Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours Thursday from 4-8pm.
Gifts in his memory may be sent to Visiting Nurse Home and Hospice 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871 or a charity of your choice.

I take this time to express my sincerest sympathies. My heart goes out to you and your children. I am very blessed to have known â??Jackâ??. Jack was a person who lived life to the fullest. He was a great man who left an incredible legacy. He was one of the best people I have ever met and has been a good friend all these years. Jack was always kind, happy, laughing and yet so helpful to anyone who needed advice and guidance. He was a devoted husband, a loving dad and a good man who positively touched the lives of all those around him. May all the beautiful memories you shared together give you comfort and peace at this difficult time. Just know that true love lives forever, and you will always have his gift of love. It was truly a privilege to know a great man like Jack. My thought and prayers are with you. Please accept my deepest and sincerest condolences.
