Obituary For Jonathan E. Sampson

Jonathan E. Sampson, 41, of Warren, RI, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 1, 2024. A son of Edward C. and the late Dorothy M. (Baker) Sampson, he was a lifelong resident of Warren.

Jonathan was a devout Catholic, being a longtime member of St. Mary of the Bay Parish in Warren. He was known as an outgoing man who was always trying to stay busy. Jonathan was always into fitness and being active, especially outdoors. He was an avid foodie and loved Portuguese food. Mostly, Jonathan was known as a very social, generous, intelligent and curious person. He was always asking questions about any subject matter and was known to dismantle anything he could just so he could put it back together in working order to better understand how it works. Jonathan loved all things comedy. He loved to laugh and was always considered the funniest one in the room. More than anything else, Jonathan loved to be with his family.

In addition to his father, Edward C. Sampson Jr., Jonathan is survived by his daughter, Liona Marsland of Swansea, MA; his sisters, Jennifer Sousa and her husband Joseph of Warren, RI, Nicole Sampson and her husband Brian Gray of Rumford, RI and Hannah Sampson of Warren, RI; his brother, Douglas Sampson and his wife Bethanie of Warren, RI; his grandmother, Mary Baker of Bristol, RI and his nieces and nephew.

Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI, where the family will receive relatives and guests for Visitation on Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 8:30-9:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St. Warren, RI. Burial will be private.
