Jose Pacheco, beloved husband and father, died on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the age of 83 in Barrington, RI. Jose is survived by his children, Ruben and Mercedes Pacheco; his son-in-law Gregory Knight; his granddaughters, Angelica, Victoria and Celeste; his step-grandchildren Benjamin and Katie; his great-granddaughter Makenna; and his siblings Hilda and Carlos. He is predeceased by his wife, Bernarda Garrido; his siblings Daniel and Rosario; and his parents Flora Mantilla and Gregorio Pacheco. Jose was born in the town of San Juan, Pinar de Rio province, Cuba on October 18, 1936. He started a carpentry apprenticeship at the age of 14 and carried this skill with him when he immigrated to the United States in the early 1960s, where he ultimately became a business owner of his own custom-built cabinet making shop. He was married to his beloved Bernarda Berny for over 50 years, and together they raised their children, Ruben and Mercy. Jose was a devoted husband and father. He approached life consistently with good humor and had a knack for making others feel welcome and valued. He was a spiritual person whose equanimity in the face of hardship was an inspiration to his family, friends and all who knew him. He will be deeply missed. A private graveside service will be planned at a future date, where will be inurned, along with the ashes of his wife, at Princes Hill Burial Ground in Barrington, RI. Donations may be offered in his name to HopeHealth Hospice and Palliative Care, whose services allowed him to die peacefully at home with his family.
