Joe, we did not stay in contact after our early twenties, save for an email here and there, but I will always remember your spirit and enthusiasm for life. One door closes, another opens..."There are beautiful days ahead, keep the faith!"

We are devastated to learn of the loss of Joe. URI Watershed Watch staff worked with Joe for over five years and deeply admired his energy, enthusiasm and dedication to his Bristol Harbor. His friendliness and outgoing personality made it such a pleasure to work with him and helped make Save Bristol Harbor the stellar organization it is. We loved hearing the pride in his voice as he spoke about his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My sincerest condolences to the Arruda family. Though I only recently had the opportunity to get to know Joe, it was my pleasure to have gotten to know him. He was one of the best people I have met in my short tenure with the company. We both enjoyed sharing our big fish stories and I was looking forward to sharing local fishing hole locations with him. As a colleague, he will be sincerely missed. May you and yours find peace in knowing his joy of life and kindness was a true gift to all that knew him however briefly.

Dearest Denise and family, Our hearts are broken with the loss of our dear friend Joe. He was the kindest, sweetest, and most caring friend ever. I shall always remember when I got home from surgery that he came to our home and prepared the most delicious meal for me....of course while having a few drinks and fun in the kitchen with Keith! His love, dedication, loyalty and devotion to you Denise, and your children and grandchildren was palpable....even through the difficulties. He also was a dedicated volunteer for Save Bristol Harbor who really cared about protecting our local waters. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers, and Joe will always be in our hearts. May the good Lord give you strength to endure the difficult days ahead. Rest in Peace dear friend. Much love, Susan and Keith

I wish to express my condolences to the family. At any time that we lose someone the loss is great. And so may yo find comfort from the God of all comfort who can help you to cope with your grief. Chris and I are sorry for your loss. Joe was a bon vivant and he will live on in our memories forever. I will always remember the lobster party he organized at your house for the folks at Applied and how he was always happy and giving. I am sorry I haven't been more in touch in the last few years.

First my deepest sympathy to Joe's family. Many years we were friends sharing all life had to offer . I can't begin to count how many miles we traveled ,music we shared ,changes we were part of. He was a very important part of my life and the memories he helped create are endless. Even though people go different directions at times,I am so grateful to say nothing but a sad smile has overwhelmed me since Thursday.Having these memories mean alot to me.The last time we were together ,along with Al and Mark, after the first hug it all seemed to be that time lapse never happened. We talked, played music, laughed just as always. The time we have here is so important, and being a friend of his has made my time a little more special.
